Teresa and I spent this last weekend on the Cape in West Falmouth Massachusetts. As a team, we gave a talk on conservation and restoration of oil paintings and period frames at the historic West Falmouth Library. The room was filled with knowledgeable and curious people from the area with great questions. They added vibrancy to our presentation. The hour long presentation covered what conservation and restoration are, choosing a conservator, the process and costs involved. Actual paintings and frames with real life stories were used as examples. Following the lecture, we met with individuals to discuss the condition of their artwork. And during the two day period we made house calls to see pieces that were not easily transported. All the fees for these activities became donations to the West Falmouth Library to aid the capital campaign for the restoration, renovation and an addition to the very special 19th century building.
It was our pleasure to work with the West Falmouth Library and thank all who made the weekend possible. We met wonderful people and look forward to working with them.
